It is an import versus American confrontation.
In a world where sporting excellence often lives or dies due to weight distribution and pre -motor setups, throwing a curveball is sometimes the real key to racing hearts. An example of this? The configuration of the mid-reer engine that offers sublime traction from the start, albeit with the risk of being a bit too jumpy on the bends for those who are not completely tailored to his peculiarities. But hey, it has no nickname the ‘widow maker’ for no reason.

The Porsche 911 Turbo, especially in the early days, was notorious because he was a bit of a wildcard, until his engineers decided to refine the beast. Following the leadership, different car giants tried their hand, some rather than others. While Honda’s Acura NSX made its entrance in 1990 and has seen two generations so far, Chevrolet’s Corvette only underwent a huge transformation after celebrating seven generations of the front engine glory.
So why pitch the beloved sports car of America against the pride of the Japanese engineering? Simply put, to see some sparks fly!
SSDracer, a prominent YouTuber and an avid car enthusiast, gave us a taste of this fiery meeting in the Barona Dragstrip in Lakeside, California. With a garage with vehicles such as the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP from 1998, 2022 Honda Accord Sport, and an earlier owned 2018 Chevy Camaro SS, the videographer knows his cars. This time his brand new Crimson Stingray Z51 was central to a coordinated Acura NSX.
The sun that Peekaboo played, however, tampered with our view, making it a bit difficult to keep track of the explosive race. With the horsepower of the NSX a mystery because of the coordination (originally 573 hp) and the Z51 with a solid 495 hp, the outcome of the race seemed a foregone conclusion. But hold your hats! Despite the chances, the Corvette stood its ground. Although it received a small drubing, the timing magazines showed a close 7.02s to 7.15s finish!
A touch of the old, a scattering tuning magic and the rough power of modern engineering-this face-off had it all! In the end, although horsepower and coordination are great, it is the pure passion for racing that wins the day.
