An enthusiastic gym thought she had a bad mosquito bite – until it started to spread all over her body, a bad case of the ringworm of the fungal infection.
Jamie Samnang, 41, said that she had just completed a training in the gym last September and returned home when her arm started to itch. “I thought I might have been bitten by a mosquito, but as the days progressed, it got worse” The daily mail.
“Bite Cream did not work and I started to get these red -founded bumps that were filled with pus,” Samnang said. The itch was “intense and serious”, she explains, and shares that “I was so seriously itchy that I was bleeding.”

But Samnang did not realize that she spread it by scratching her result. “I itched my arms and then touched my legs,” she explained. A visit to the dermatologist “shocked and disgusted” Samnang, who said she was told: “Gyms are one of the number one areas for ringworm because it’s hot, sweaty and humid.”
“It’s the perfect breeding ground for fungal growth.”
Ringworm gets its name because of its appearance, says the Mayo Clinic, pointing out that “there are no worms involved.” It is an itchy, flaky, ring-shaped fungal infection in the outer layer of your skin and is contracted by skin-to-skin contact or by sharing items with someone with ringworm.
Items such as training equipment, says Samnang, and shares that she had placed her bare arms on a machine before she first wiped it off.

Recovery was rough, she said, and shared that she had to apply an anti-fungal cream three times a day three times a day. “I couldn’t go to work. It was really very bad. It was so serious, “she said, explained that she” had to bleach, I had to sterilize, I had to get new sheets and I couldn’t sleep near my husband because I would get him infected. ”
If she now comes out “Everything is long sleeves,” says Samnang, who used to wear short sleeves or a sports bra. “I just can’t take that risk because it was so serious.”
“It’s a nightmare,” she said. “Not everyone will always remember to wipe off and unfortunately I was one of them.”
