Disney is organizing a Hollywood premiere of “Snow White” on 15 March, but the studio will not roll out a robust red carpet like usually.
The afternoon festivities include a pre-party and display in the El Capitan Theater with titular star Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, is expected to be present. However, the red carpet will not include the dozens of media that are usually invited by Disney to interview the cast and creatives at his premieres.
Instead, the coverage will be limited to photographers and a home crew.
The studio did not comment on this story, but the scaled back plans come in the midst of controversies around the Marc Webb-missed film, which will be in the theaters on March 21.
Some poisonous Disney fans asked Snow White that was played by Zegler when her casting was announced because she is a Latina actor. The “West Side Story” star was also confronted with a recoil when she called the original “dated” from 1937 because the prince “literally stalks Snow White.”
In an interview with Variety Two years ago on D23, Zegler said: ‘She is not saved by the prince. She won’t dream about true love. She dreams of becoming the leader she knows she can be. ‘
Peter Dinklage spoke about the display of the film of small people to perpetuate negative stereotypes. “Literally no offense on something, but I was a bit stunned,” he said on the podcast “WTF with Mark Maron” in January 2024. “They were very proud to cast a Latino actress like Snow White, but you still tell the story of” Snow White and the seven dwarf. ” Take a step back and look at what you do there. “
Shortly after Dinklage’s comments, Disney said in a statement to ‘Good Morning America’, “To avoid strengthening stereotypes of the original animation film, we follow a different approach with these seven characters and we had consultations with members of the Dwarfism community.”
Zegler argues that the recoil to the film is due to the “passion” for the original film. “I interpret the feelings of people towards this film as a passion,” she said in an interview in the March issue of Vogue Mexico. “What an honor to be part of something that people feel so passionate about. We will not always agree with everyone who surrounds us and everything we can do is our best. (Quotes were translated independently from Spanish to English by Variety).
World politics has also come into play. Zegler has promoted ‘free Palestina’ on social media. At the same time, Gadot, which is Israelic, has become a pronounced supporter of Israel on social media and in a passionate speech that she gave on March 4 when she was honored at the annual top of the anti-defamation competition in New York City. “I never thought we would see people who would not condemn Hamas on the streets of the United States, and various cities around the world, but celebrating, justifying and cheering a massacre of Jews,” she partially said.
Gadot has stayed away from politics in the past, but said that she felt she had to speak after the Hamas attack of 7 October.
In February, a few dozen Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside the Hollywood premiere of “Captain America: Brave New World” and called for a boycott of the film about the recording of the Israeli Superheld Ruth Bat-Sabra, Aka Sabra.
Maga supporters also destroyed Zegler for her response to Donald Trump’s re -election when she placed on Instagram, partly: “May Trump -supporters and Trump elections and Trump never know the peace.” She apologized for her comments two days later.

Publicity plans “Snow White” already include Gadot and Zegler who present themselves at the Oscars, followed by Zegler who makes a promotional appearance in Tokyo. Zegler and Webb will also visit Spain for the film, followed by Zegler who organizes a screening in New York City for the Broadway community.
Gadot was on “Good Morning America” on Monday to support the film.
Since the debut, the official trailer for the film has gathered 11.8 million views on YouTube three months ago.
