Brussels-from the Toyota brand is generally expected to add a second electric vehicle to its American line-up, a two-row that will slope under the BZ4x crossover. And it will have a well -known name.
The 2026 Toyota C-HR+ is a crossover in a coupé style that is mainly designed for Europe, where it is expected that this year will be for sale. It was unveiled to journalists here this month.
Although Toyota Motor Noord-America has not confirmed that the C-HR+ will be sold in the US, it is expected that it will be added early next year, partly to give the automaker a different nameplate to sell to meet heavy advanced Clean II sales instructions in six states that come into force with the model year 2026.
Built on the E-TNGA battery-electric vehicle platform of the automaker, it is unclear whether the specifications for the C-HR+ that would be sold in the US will be the same as the European version. The C-HR+ is offered for configurations for the front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with a battery of 57.7 kilowatt hours or 77 kWh.

Toyota put the C-HR in the US after the model year 2022, when it was replaced by the Corolla Cross. In the US, the C-HR was only available in FWD and equipped with a 144 hp 2.0-liter petrol engine. The sale in the US reached 42,936 in 2020, but by 2022 it had fallen to only 12,141. The sale was hampered by its small size and the lack of an AWD version scenes that are remedied by the larger and more diverse Corolla Cross.
The two-row C-HR+ EV-Hatchback has a lot of the styling instructions of the C-HR, including its aggressive attitude and cockelike sloping C-pimder and rear. However, it is about 5 centimeters longer than the previous version of gasoline, with a much longer wheelbase for a better ride and handling. As a result of the size difference and its electric powertrain, the C-HR+ has a much larger cabin than its predecessor with combustion.
The middle stack in a European spec 2026 Toyota C-HR+ EV has a few wireless loading bins.
“The devoted platform gave us a lot of freedom, but we knew from the start that we all the passion, emotion and success of the [combustion] C-HR to the BEV room, “Masaya Uchiyama, chief engineer from Toyota for electric vehicles, told journalists here. The two cars “share the same DNA, but under the skin the architecture is very different.”
Toyota is expected to announce prices for the C-HR+ this year and American specifications. When it becomes available for Toyota dealers in the US, it would give them an EV to sell in addition to the BZ4X, which receives a mid-cycle renewal to add range and better battery management, alongside other changes. The C-HR+ would theoretically make it a little less difficult for Toyota to comply with the ACC II regulation that this year will come into effect in California and five other states, which is mandatory that car manufacturers reach at least a sales threshold of 35 percent in each state for zero emission vehicles.
Toyota and its dealers have lobbyed the congress, the Trump government and states to postpone the ACC II mandate at least – if not to kill – and says that it is far ahead of where the consumer’s question is for EVs. Until now, those lobby efforts have not been successful.
